Awful Announcing

Zucker, who had long admired Gumbel as a student at Syracuse, reflected on the surreal nature of stepping into the position.

“It’s still so weird because I was in school at Syracuse, waiting for Greg Gumbel to come on,” Zucker told Damon Amendolara, “to tell me if Syracuse was in or out or where they were going. Where were we going to go do radio or cover it with the TV station that I was at there? The whole thing’s been very strange and sad. He was the greatest. He was so great to me; he was great to everybody.”

ON SI: Phildelphia Eagles

Jason Kelce isn't rethinking his decision to walk away from football after the Eagles Super Bowl win.

“I try not to think about it in terms of like, ‘Oh, if I just would have done that a year, I would have been able to win the Super Bowl’ because who knows what would have happened and who else would have been there and what guys would have been acquired and all these other things,” Kelce told SiriusXM’s Damon Amendolara at the Ed Block Courage Awards. “So for me, I'm very happy with what I left when I was there."

“Just a cool original creation”

“Thumbs Up:

Damon Amendolara & Damon Bruce: The two talented hosts created a full-day event for A’s fans in Oakland. It started with a live show on YouTube, which included notable guests and a live audience. They then gathered with fans for a pre-game tailgate before invading The Coliseum waving ‘SELL” flags to draw attention to the franchise’s disastrous ownership group.

They then capped it off with post-game fun at Ricky’s, a popular spot among Bay Area sports Oakland fans. Just a cool, original creation from two guys who agree that the A’s belong in Oakland, and their owner is responsible for destroying a once proud franchise.”

Talkers: The Bible of Talk Radio

Veteran sportscaster Damon Amendolara made news in Northern California when he interviewed Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao at a recent Oakland Athletics’ fan convention on his live YouTube program ‘Watch D.A. Live.’ Amendolara has been a champion for Athletics’ fans who want their team to stay in Oakland instead of moving to Las Vegas.  Mayor Thao said, ‘It’s frustrating… and it’s f***d up. I have warned the legislators in Vegas to watch out for John Fisher and Dave Kaval… and the majority have not listened. And that’s what pisses me off. If you just wanted a ballpark (and not the property around it), that could’ve been done.’”

“Damon Amendolara has been a champion for Oakland Athletics’ followers who want their team to stay put. Athletics’ owners on the other hand are reportedly looking to move the team to Las Vegas, which has sent their fans into a frenzy. During the interview, Thao opened up and for the first time and blasted Oakland A’s owners.

“I’ve been a supporter of the Athletics staying in Oakland from early on,” said Amendolara. “I’ve become the national voice for the team’s fans, who feel that no one else is listening to them. I was shocked at how emotional it was. There were fans with tears in their eyes saying, 'Thank you for telling our side of the story.'” Amendolara also hosts The D.A. Show with Babchik weekdays 6a-9a ET on SiriusXM and was looking to expand his presence to a visual platform for live events. The rise in popularity of YouTube in the last few years for anything and everything visual seemed like the perfect solution. "I love having a new way to connect even more deeply with my audience,” said Amendolara.”
